Chris Paul and Russell Westbrook both retired from the NBA this year. After a former player revealed they will be celebrating on vacation together, fans on social media had a lot to say.

Two of the greatest point guards in NBA history retired in 2026. Chris Paul made his announcement after the Los Angeles Clippers released him in the middle of the season.

Russell Westbrook generated a lot of noise when he announced his decision to call it quits in August. For a lot of young fans who grew up on the NBA of the 2010s, a league without these stars is unthinkable.

It seems that Westbrook and Paul themselves know what a monumental moment this is. While the two were traded for one another in 2019, they were never teammates. But reportedly, they will still celebrate together.

The two point guards both have fiery personalities. They had their fair share of clashes on the court. But according to Matt Barnes, they seem to be good friends off the court.

Barnes revealed on his All The Smoke podcast that the two legendary guards will be going on holiday together. When this news reached X, fans were quick to start making jokes.

“CP3 and Russell Westbrook gonna be on vacation together talking about how much they hate the Clippers,” one fan said. “Their friendship is not surviving the Miami trip. Both hotheads,” claimed another.

“I didn’t even know they were tight like that, this feel odd man,” a third fan said. “You know that’s the no rings club hitting the beach together,” a fourth fan joked.

“They have been on vacation for years not helping their teams,” a different comment read. “You know it’s the offseason when these are the reports that are coming out,” a sixth fan hilariously said.

All jokes aside, no one can deny that Westbrook and Paul have both more than earned their vacation. It’s strange to think of the two as friends considering how competitive they were, but the trip might just produce some legendary photos and stories.
