In news that won’t surprise anyone who watched yesterdays game but Simeon Woods Richardson has been DFAed (for the third time this season) and CJ Van Eyk is up.
Van Eyk has been up before. He’s pitched in three games for the Jays, 5.2 innings, with 11 hits, 3 earned, 1 walk and one strikeout. In Buffalo he has a 3.79 ERA in 95 innings, 92 hits, 7 home runs, 35 walks and 68 strikeouts.
In August he’s thrown 5.2 innings, with 11 hits, 3 earned, 1 walk and 8 strikeouts.
Yesterday, SWR gave up 6 earned in just one inning, with 5 hits, 1 home runs, 2 walks and 1 strikeout. He had been used sparingly by the Jays, and really they have been using the pen a lot, so having a guy down there who they try their very best never to use is not exactly going to be helpful. He has a 6.68 ERA with the Jays and I’m guessing we won’t see him in a Jays jersey.
The Jays have three guys making rehab appearances for the Bisons tonight: Jameson Taillon, Joe Mantiply, and Josh Smith. All three are close to being ready to return to the Jays.
And, they say that Anthony Santander is ‘hitting off machines’ and taking outfield reps. He’ll face live pitching soon.
