The date has now become particularly interesting after WWE announced a PLE for the same day, creating uncertainty over how the John Cena Classic plans will unfold.

While December 12 remains the reported target date for the special, there is still no clarity over where the event will take place or how WWE intends to handle the scheduling overlap.

The John Cena Classic was announced by Cena at Backlash, with the concept bringing together main roster and NXT talent.

The special will also feature a fan-voted element, with viewers deciding the John Cena Classic Champion. This means the wrestler who ultimately wins the fan vote could claim the honour regardless of the result of their match.

Cena previously likened the concept to a WWE version of an “All-Star Game.”

For now, December 12 remains the key date for the John Cena Classic, but with another WWE event already scheduled for the same day, fans will have to wait for further details regarding the special.
