LeBron James has accomplished so much in his 23-year NBA career, and there is nothing left to prove. However, James will play his 24th season in October for the Philadelphia 76ers. The 6-foot-9 forward signed a two-year, $8 million contract to play for the 76ers, joining Joel Embiid, Jaylen Brown and Tyrese Maxey.
Because James will join three other stars, there is a narrative that he’s taking the easy way to contend for his fifth championship. Former Golden State Warriors executive Bob Myers refuted the story during an appearance on Wednesday’s episode of “Cousins with Vince Carter and Tracy McGrady.”
According to Myers, James chose the most difficult journey to win in the league by creating a new narrative. Before he signed with the 76ers, the four-time champion was linked to the team that drafted him, the Cleveland Cavaliers, and his former team, the Miami Heat.

“There’s only one reason, it’s to win. It wasn’t because, ‘I played there before, I grew up there, I want to play with my friend.’ It was because, ‘I want to win, I’m gonna go where I want to go because it’s the best chance to win’.”
According to Myers, James would have had different expectations if he had joined the Cavaliers or the Heat. In choosing to play for Philadelphia, he embraced new challenges and expectations.

The Knicks and 76ers will meet four times next season. It is anticipated that both teams will play several games against one another because they are rivals in the conference and division. New York will start its season against Philadelphia on Oct. 20. That will be the night Hart and his team will raise their championship banner at the Madison Square Garden.
