The Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs is in serious trouble after officially being hit with two misdemeanor charges over an alleged domestic violence incident. Jacobs faces misdemeanor battery and property damage charges following a physical dispute with his ex-girlfriend (only identified by her initials, ANM, in court and police documents).

Packers Plan on Keeping Josh JacobsThe Packers might have to start the season without their star running back due to a potential suspension. ESPN insider Adam Schefter expects the NFL to suspend Jacobs before the 2026 season kicks off.
“For a handful of players that we believe will be handed down whatever it is by the start of the regular season,” Schefter said. “[Atlanta Falcons defensive end] James Pearce Jr. had a disturbing domestic situation during the offseason in which he is going to be suspended. It’s also possible the Green Bay Packers are going to lose Josh Jacobs,” he added. “That also still is under review and still a pending situation with the NFL.”
Head coach Matt LaFleur, however, confirmed that the franchise has no intention of cutting Jacobs despite the charges.
“I fully anticipate him being a member of our team,” LaFleur said, per Matt Schneidman.

Police arrested Jacobs at his home on May 26, but he was released the very next day. The garage security footage corroborated the woman’s claims, according to the official complaint. District Attorney David Lasee officially announced the charges on Thursday.
“Our office sought to ensure a fair and complete review of available evidence, some of which only recently became available to our office due to significant, ongoing forensic efforts by law enforcement.”
His lawyers, David Z. Chesnoff, Richard A. Schonfeld, and Clarence F. Duchac III, acknowledged the charges but emphasized that they “do not include domestic violence.”
Packers GM Brian Gutekunst Has Contingency Plans for Josh JacobsAt training camp, Packers GM Brian Gutekunst admitted that a suspension for Jacobs is a very real threat.
“Brian Gutekunst said they’ve been preparing for the scenario of Josh Jacobs being suspended, just to cover all their bases in case that happens. He’s confident in the RB room behind Jacobs but doesn’t rule out an additional move. Said they’ll tackle that if/when something happens.”
Backup running back MarShawn Lloyd is next in line and will start if Jacobs is sidelined. If needed, Green Bay can also test out depth options with Chris Brooks and Pierre Strong Jr.
