The New York Yankees lost on Tuesday night to the Houston Astros, with fans left outraged over some of the errors being made by Aaron Boone’s team.

Despite leading on numerous occasions during the game, three runs in the eighth inning turned it around for the Astros.

However, the Yankees were their own worst enemies at times, with errors from the outfielders leading to opportunities for the Astros to put runs on the board.

One player who has come under significant scrutiny from the Yankees fans was Jazz Chisholm Jr. for his error in the opening inning.

After failing to deal with a hit right down the middle, Chisholm’s error allowed Yordan Alvarez to not only claim second base, but also make his way to third.

The mistake from Chisholm was emphasised by George Lombard Jr. then failing to connect with first baseman Luis Garcia Jr. to get Jose Altuve out.

It was a sequence of errors that could have easily been avoided, but ultimately set the trend for the Yankees in what was a sloppy performance against an Astros team that took their record to .500 with the win.

‘Jazz needs to go, he’s not a winner,’ said one disgruntled Yankees fan on X.

Another fan said: ‘Lombard 4 errors in 4 games If this was Volpe fans would be going crazy’.

Errors have been an issue for the Yankees this season, with fans criticising Anthony Volpe just a matter of weeks ago over his performances.

One fan did stick up for Lombard, though: ‘That should not go to Lombard, that’s all Jazz’s fault’.

‘We’re never going to have a good shortstop again. Just isn’t meant to be,’ said another fan on social media.

The Yankees remain second in the AL East behind the Tampa Bay Rays, with a record of 74-57 as the month of September nears.

Garcia also came under scrutiny from some fans: ‘Actually nah this shouldn’t even be an error on George. More on Jazz for one then Garcia just looks like he gave up on it?’

Whilst another mooted a curse on the Yankees players: ‘Yankees shortstops might be cursed’.
