Nottingham Forest sign Finnish winger WaltaNottingham Forest have completed the signing of Finnish winger Ilona Walta on a permanent deal.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Tricky Trees this morning.

The 20-year-old joins Nottingham Forest off the back of a brief spell with Norwegian Toppserien side Molde FK. She has signed a two-year contract at The City Ground.

Walta started her senior career with Finnish club HJK Helsinki before the player enjoyed spells with PK-35 Vantaa and FC Honka. The winger then joined Swedish side Vittsjö GIK before signing for latest club Molde FK last winter.

On the international stage, Walta has represented Finland at various youth levels up to and including Under-23 level.

After sealing her move to Nottingham Forest, Walta said “It feels amazing to be here, I’m looking forward to seeing the girls and getting to know them on and off the pitch. This is a big club, with a lot of history and ambition and I wanted to be a part of it.

“I’m an energetic winger; I like creating scoring opportunities for my teammates and for myself. I’m looking forward to seeing all the fans and I hope many people will be coming to support us from the stands. I can’t wait to get started.”

Walta is Nottingham Forest’s tenth signing of the summer transfer window.
