Real Madrid have been one of the most active clubs in the summer transfer window, having made as many as six major signings to strengthen their first-team squad.
Indeed, the likes of Bernardo Silva, Ibrahima Konate, Carlos Espi, Denzel Dumfries, and Marc Cucurella arrived, along with the club-record signing of Yan Diomande.
Los Blancos roped in the 19-year-old winger from RB Leipzig in a deal worth €140 million, including add-ons, which makes him the club’s most expensive acquisition ever.
Diomande chose Real Madrid despite interest from Liverpool and PSGNathan Campbell, representative of Yan Diomande, spoke to El Chiringuito (h/t Defensa Central) about the Ivorian’s move to Real Madrid.
He explained that the youngster is fulfilling a dream, never hesitated once the Spanish club appeared and has two major ambitions at the Bernabeu: winning trophies with Madrid and, eventually, claiming the Ballon d’Or.
“I’m excited and proud, and Yan Diomande is on his way to showing Real Madrid why they paid that amount for him,” said Campbell, one of Roc Nation’s agents and the representative handling Diomande’s affairs.

Diomande had no doubts whatsoever once Real Madrid entered the picture.
“As soon as he knew that Real Madrid were interested, as I’ve said several times, he said he wanted to go to Real Madrid and that it was his dream. There were no doubts and no questions,” he explained.
Jose Mourinho has already described the phenomenon surrounding Real Madrid’s pull: when the club calls, the natural reaction is to ask when you need to arrive.
That was the case despite several major European clubs competing for Diomande’s signature, as per Campbell.
“From the beginning, we knew that Real Madrid wanted him and although, obviously, there was interest from other teams, English clubs such as Liverpool, and also PSG…,” he said.
“Once Real Madrid sat down at our table, it was a pleasure to close the deal,” Campbell revealed.
Lofty ambitionsThe representative also explained that Diomande’s ambitions extend from collective success to the biggest individual awards. His immediate target is the Golden Boy, while the ultimate goal is the Ballon d’Or.

“He doesn’t feel any pressure. He’s ready to start playing and achieve his goals, which are to win trophies with Real Madrid and eventually win some individual awards.
“Hopefully the Golden Boy this year, and in the future the Ballon d’Or is what he aspires to win,” he said.
Diomande has arrived at Real Madrid with a low-key attitude, determined to work and earn his place while carrying extremely ambitious goals.
He wants to eventually become a leader of the attack at the biggest club in the world and establish himself among football’s elite.
There is enormous excitement around the Ivorian at Real Madrid. Once Mourinho feels he has reached full match fitness, there is little doubt that the club’s record signing will become a regular starter.
