The Rams, under the guidance of head coach Jim Fleming, showed determination but struggled to maintain their momentum throughout the game. The first pick-six occurred early in the second quarter when Budge's pass intended for Buchanan was deflected, allowing Temple's Jamarcus Pierre to intercept the ball and sprint 35 yards for a touchdown. The second interception came in the fourth quarter, with Budge attempting to force a pass into tight coverage, resulting in a 63-yard return by Tyree Alualu that effectively sealed the game for the Owls.
Budge acknowledged the mistakes he made, stating, "Just trying to fit in a window and make a play. That’s on me. But throwing two pick-sixes didn’t happen very often. It’s hard to win like that." His performance, while commendable in terms of yardage, was overshadowed by the costly turnovers.
Defensively, the Rams faced challenges as well. Defensive lineman Case Mankins, who recorded two sacks during the game, emphasized that the team had the potential to perform better. "Temple’s a good team, and they made some big plays," he remarked. Mankins pointed out that the Rams have a solid defense but acknowledged that mistakes were made that contributed to their defeat.

Buchanan, who had a standout performance with 10 receptions for 137 yards, remains optimistic about the team's trajectory. "I think we’re right where we want to be. We’re getting there. We’ll watch film and be ready for our home opener," he said.

The Rams will have another chance to regroup when they host Elon on Saturday, September 12, at Centreville Bank Stadium in Pawtucket, where they will look to bounce back and secure their first win of the season.
