"I think being consistent is massive, keeping the desire is massive. Not getting frustrated when the game gets a little bit different from what we want is massive as well," Matos stated. He stressed the need for his players to remain competitive in every match, regardless of the circumstances.
Matos also highlighted the importance of squad depth, urging all players to be prepared to contribute, whether starting or coming off the bench. He is focused on fostering a culture of togetherness within the team, which he believes is crucial for their success moving forward. "The next steps are to keep improving, keep using the squad. All the players need to be ready to make an impact from the bench or starting. That’s what we want in terms of togetherness," he explained.
During the match against Wrexham, Swansea controlled much of the possession but struggled to create clear-cut chances. The best opportunity for Wrexham came when Callum O'Hare narrowly missed the target, while Swansea's substitute, Zan Vipotnik, was unable to convert a chance created by Moussa Yeo, firing straight at Wrexham goalkeeper Anthony Patterson.
Although the result was not a victory, it helped maintain momentum for Matos’ side, with the home fans celebrating their position at the top of the league at the final whistle. Reflecting on the support from the fans, Matos acknowledged the significance of their chants but reminded everyone to remain grounded. "It’s always nice, of course, but we also have the humility to understand the situation, knowing that there’s a lot to come," he said.
