Wild $1.3M fraud story with man faking NFL career has Bills connection

The NFL and football world has had outlandish stories hit it.

The alleged one involving Daejon Love, 35, and Taylor Jamie Chan, 18, is up there.

For those unaware, the two are accused of fraud and part of the story involves the posing of a NFL wide receiver that played for the San Francisco 49ers.

In a twist, there is a slight Buffalo Bills connection or two, making it all the more interesting in western New York.

Federal authorities have arrested and charged two men, one of whom repeatedly posed as a San Francisco 49ers player, for defrauding more than two dozen women out of about $1.3 million.

The FBI arrested Daejon Love, 35, and Taylor Jamie Chan, 18, on Aug. 24 in Boise, Idaho, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office in the District of Oregon, via ESPN's Nick Wagoner. Both are charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and wire fraud. The pair was arrested at the Boise airport on Monday after Chan flew in from California to meet Love. Both remain in federal custody.

Now for the Bills.

Here is the smaller "connection." Throughout his story, there is one point where he names a few NFL friends he has. Among them is former Bills wide receiver John Brown, who played in Buffalo from 2019-2020 and in 2022.

And now for the bigger Buffalo note: Love claimed one of the teams that had "interest" in him? The Bills.
