A Williams High School football player and four teammates escaped with only minor injuries after a crash that led to the postponement of a football game, according to the father of the one of the people involved.
The father said his son was returning to school after the team's pregame dinner when his vehicle was hit while making a left turn. He said all five student-athletes only had cuts and scrapes. The father also confirmed the crash was the reason the school postponed tonight's game.
Principal Curry Bryan sent this statement to WFMY News 2:
"Earlier today, members of our student-athlete community were involved in a motor vehicle accident. We are thankful that there were no serious injuries. Out of respect for those involved and their families, and to allow our school community time to process the developing situation, tonight’s football game was postponed.
We appreciate the flexibility and consideration from Eastern Guilford Athletics. Further updates about the makeup game will be shared when available."
